Custom Plastic Locating Blocks
We machine plastic locating blocks to customer drawings for use in injection molds, assembly fixtures, and industrial equipment. Projects range from single prototypes to repeat production runs.
- Standard tolerance
- ±0.05 mm
- Tight tolerance
- ±0.02 mm
- Prototype lead time
- 7–12 days
Material Options for Locating Blocks
Common grades include POM, PA6, PA66, PEEK, PPS, and UHMW-PE. Selection depends on required wear resistance, dimensional stability under load, chemical exposure, and operating temperature. We review each application to recommend the grade that maintains position accuracy over time.
POM
Low friction and good dimensional stability for sliding and locating faces.
PA6 / PA66
Tough, wear-resistant grades for fixtures and mechanical stops.
PEEK / PPS
High-temperature and chemical resistance for demanding industrial use.
UHMW-PE
Excellent impact and abrasion performance for wear strips and guides.
Application-driven selection
We match grade to load, temperature, chemical exposure, and lifetime position accuracy requirements.
CNC Processes Used
Blocks are produced on 3-axis and 4-axis milling centers with drilling, tapping, and slotting operations. Tool paths are optimized to reduce internal stress in the polymer.
- 3-axis and 4-axis milling on polymer-optimized tool paths
- Drilling, tapping, and slotting to drawing requirements
- Secondary operations: deburring, chamfering, and surface finishing
Tolerances and Inspection
Standard tolerances reach ±0.05 mm on critical locating faces. Tighter requirements down to ±0.02 mm are available on selected materials after process validation.
Each batch receives first-article and in-process checks with CMM and height gauge reports.

Typical Project Types
These parts suit low-to-medium volumes where tooling costs for molding are not justified.
Mold locating and alignment blocks
Fixture stops and reference pads
Wear strips in linear guides
Insulating spacers in electrical assemblies
Replacement parts for legacy machinery
Design and Manufacturability Review
Drawings are checked for draft angles, minimum wall sections, and feature accessibility before quoting. We flag potential issues such as thin sections that may distort or locations that require special fixturing.
Lead Times and Production Batches
Prototype quantities are normally completed in 7–12 working days. Repeat orders follow agreed schedules with material reservation. Packaging uses protective wrapping and labeled cartons suitable for export.
