Plastic CNC Machining Services

Precision CNC milling and turning for engineering plastics—built for drawings that call out tight fits, clean surfaces, and predictable lead times. PlasticCNCPro machines prototypes through low-volume production for OEMs that need polymer parts without molding tooling.

Engineering-Grade Plastic Machining, Delivered Globally

Plastic CNC machining is often the fastest path from CAD to functional polymer parts. With no mold to cut, design changes stay cheap and lead times stay short—especially for fixtures, wear parts, housings, and small lots. PlasticCNCPro programs toolpaths, feeds, and workholding for soft, abrasive, and dimensionally sensitive stocks rather than treating plastics like aluminum.

From our Dongguan facility we ship to North America, Europe, and Asia with export-ready packaging and inspection paperwork matched to the order. Browse the full plastic materials library or jump to high-demand grades such as PEEK, POM / acetal, PTFE, UHMW-PE, polycarbonate (PC), and nylon (PA66). For finished part families, see Custom Parts categories including bushings & bearings, guides & wear components, jigs & fixtures, housings & covers, and semiconductor components.

Tolerances Matched to Material

Typical general tolerances around ±0.05 mm; tighter bands on stable grades (POM, PEEK) when drawings call them out and process controls support them. We confirm capability on critical dims before cutting production lots.

Broad Polymer Coverage

Commodity and engineering plastics plus filled and specialty grades—from PTFE and UHMW to glass-filled nylon and high-temperature PEEK/PEI—selected for the duty cycle, not a one-size metal playbook.

Practical Lead Times

Rush prototypes often in about 5 business days when material is on hand. Repeat and production lots commonly ship in 10–15 business days, with schedule confirmed on the quote—not a generic catalog promise.

Why Choose CNC for Plastic Parts

Expand each topic for how plastic CNC compares to molding, how polymers machine differently from metal, DFM checks we run before cutting, and realistic tolerances by material family.

CNC plastic machining wins when geometry is complex, annual volume does not justify a mold, or the polymer must stay in a specific stock grade (FDA-contact, ESD, glass-filled, virgin vs. regrind). It also wins for validation: cut design-intent material, assemble, then revise the STEP file before locking a tool. For many OEMs, CNC bridges prototype through the first hundreds of pieces—and can remain production when mold amortization never pays back.

CNC Milling vs Turning: When to Choose Each

Pick the primary process from geometry—then combine both when OD/ID concentricity and prismatic features share one part.

Left · Milling

CNC Plastic Milling

Default for prismatic parts: plates, housings, fixtures, manifolds, and multi-face geometries. 3-axis covers most pockets and profiles; multi-axis setups help undercuts and compound angles without excessive refixture.

  • Best when flatness, pattern holes, and pocket networks dominate the drawing
  • Strong for multi-face prismatic and pocketed plastic parts

Right · Turning

CNC Plastic Turning

Stronger for round, concentric features—bushings, rollers, sleeves, valve seats, and shafts. Live tooling can add flats and cross-holes in one setup when volumes justify it.

  • Best for OD/ID concentricity and rotational symmetry
  • Often combined with milling: turn OD/ID, then mill keyways or mounts

If you are unsure, send the model; we will recommend the primary process that protects concentricity and surface finish with fewer clamps. Related pages: precision plastic machining, prototype plastic machining, low-volume production, drilling & tapping, and plastic jigs & fixtures.

Inspection, Documentation & Export Packaging

Inspection scope follows the drawing and the purchase order. Standard lots receive in-process checks plus final dimensional verification on critical features. When specified, we provide first-article reports, dimensional lists tied to ballooned drawings, material lot or certificate of conformance from stock suppliers, and photos of finished parts. We do not claim third-party ISO registration in our marketing copy; if your program requires a specific quality system or PPAP-style package, state it on the RFQ so we can confirm what documentation we can supply for that order.

Export packaging is part of the deliverable. Soft plastics and polished faces ship with protective film or interleaving where needed; threaded and insert-loaded parts are bagged or trayed to prevent scuffing; heavy plates use corner protection and sealed cartons. International shipments include packing lists; moisture-sensitive materials can ship sealed with desiccant when specified.

CNC Capability Overview

Representative shop capability for plastic CNC work. Exact limits depend on geometry, material grade, and inspection plan—confirm critical features on your quote.

Capability Typical Range / Notes
Materials Plastic materials hub — e.g. PEEK, POM, PTFE, UHMW, PC, Nylon, PEI, ABS, PVC, and filled grades
Processes 3-axis & multi-axis milling, turning, drilling & tapping, facing, boring, and light finishing
Max part size Approx. 600 × 400 × 250 mm for typical mill work envelopes; longer turned lengths by setup—confirm oversized plates or rods on RFQ
Quantity ranges 1–10 prototypes; 10–200 bridge / pilot lots; 200–2,000+ low-volume repeats when CNC remains cost-effective vs. molding
Surface finish (Ra) As-machined ~Ra 1.6–3.2 μm typical; finer cosmetic faces with finishing passes; optional bead blast / polish when specified
Inserts & threads Cut threads, thread milling, and heat-set / press-in inserts (brass, stainless) per drawing; avoid over-torquing soft plastics
Inspection docs Dimensional reports, ballooned FAIR when requested, material CoC / lot trace from stock, packing list; extra plans quoted separately
Lead time ~5 business days rush prototypes (stock dependent); commonly 1–3 weeks prototypes, 2–4 weeks production by qty & complexity
Part categories Custom Parts — bushings, wear guides, jigs & fixtures, housings, fluid handling, more
