CNC Machined Polymer Components

Custom Plastic Base Plates

PlasticCNCPro produces plastic base plates through CNC milling and turning. We work from customer drawings or samples to deliver parts in engineering plastics and high-performance polymers for prototypes through repeat production runs.

Materials for Base Plates

Buyers typically specify POM, Nylon 6/66, UHMW-PE, HDPE, PEEK, PPS, or PTFE depending on load, chemical exposure, and temperature range. Filled grades with glass, carbon, or PTFE additives improve wear or dimensional stability when required.

POM & Nylon 6/66

General-purpose structural grades for mounting plates and load-bearing fixtures.

UHMW-PE & HDPE

Low-friction, chemically resistant plates for wear strips and guide surfaces.

PEEK & PPS

High-temperature, high-strength polymers for demanding engineering environments.

PTFE & Filled Grades

Glass, carbon, or PTFE additives to improve wear resistance and dimensional stability.

CNC Processes Applied to Base Plates

Milling creates flat mounting surfaces, slots, and counterbores. Turning handles round or cylindrical base plates with threaded holes or O-ring grooves. Additional steps include drilling, tapping, and edge finishing to meet drawing tolerances.

  • Milling

Flat mounting surfaces, slots, pockets, and counterbores.

  • Turning

Round or cylindrical base plates with threaded holes or O-ring grooves.

  • Secondary Operations

Drilling, tapping, and edge finishing to drawing tolerances.

±0.05 mm

Standard tolerance on critical dimensions for most plastics.

±0.02 mm

Tightened on select features where material and geometry allow.

0.8 µm Ra

Fine finish available on sealing faces.

1200 × 600 mm

Routine length and width capacity for base plates.

Size, Geometry, and Verification

Base plates up to 1200 mm in length and 600 mm in width are routine. Thicker sections or parts with multiple mounting patterns are produced without tooling changes. Complex pocket patterns or integrated locating features are machined in single setups where possible. Flatness and parallelism are verified per customer specification.

Large Format

Up to 1200 mm long and 600 mm wide, with thicker sections available.

Complex Geometry

Multiple mounting patterns, deep pockets, and integrated locating features.

Inspection

Flatness and parallelism verified to customer specification.

Industries That Use These Components

Equipment builders in automation, semiconductor handling, chemical processing, and food packaging order plastic base plates for corrosion resistance and weight reduction. Medical device and laboratory system manufacturers request parts in USP Class VI or FDA-compliant grades.

When Machining Replaces Molding or Casting

Low-volume programs, design iterations, or parts with undercuts and internal features often move to CNC. Machining also serves as a bridge before committing to molds or when material properties exceed injection-molding limits.

Automation

Corrosion-resistant base plates for equipment builders.

Semiconductor Handling

Clean, dimensionally stable components for handling systems.

Chemical Processing

Chemically resistant polymers for aggressive environments.

Food Packaging

Weight-reduced plates for packaging machinery.

Medical & Laboratory Systems

Parts in USP Class VI or FDA-compliant grades on request.

Project Data Needed for Accurate Quotations

Send 2D drawings with tolerances, 3D models, material grade, annual quantity, and any special packaging or marking requirements. Application details such as operating temperature, chemical contact, or load help confirm material suitability before production.

  1. 01

    2D Drawings with Tolerances

Critical dimensions and datum references for inspection.

  2. 02

    3D Models & Material Grade

Geometry files plus the specified polymer and any fillers.

  3. 03

    Annual Quantity & Packaging

Volume expectations plus marking or packaging requirements.

  4. 04

    Application Details

Operating temperature, chemical contact, and load conditions.
